Public art elevated
Footscray has always been shaped by the people who call it home. The Indi Footscray mural celebrates that spirit through a vibrant collection of artworks inspired by place, culture and community.
Stretching 75 metres along McNab Lane, the mural brings together six celebrated local, First Nations and international street artists in a curated cultural work delivered by Juddy Roller. Together, their artworks capture the rhythm, people and pulse that make Footscray one of Melbourne's most dynamic neighbourhoods.
Meet the artists, explore the stories behind the mural and see how a once-overlooked laneway has become a new local landmark.
Episode 1:
Juddy Roller is an award-winning Australian public art agency specialising in large-scale murals, public art strategy, artist curation and end-to-end project delivery. As the founders of Australia’s Silo Art Trail, Juddy Roller helped pioneer a new model for public art and cultural tourism, turning everyday infrastructure into nationally recognised cultural destinations.
For Indi Footscray, Juddy Roller curated and delivered a public art program that celebrates the area's rich cultural diversity, creative spirit and local character. Shaun from Juddy Roller worked closely with each artist to shape a trail that feels like a genuine portrait of Footscray, not just a wall of art, bringing the same instinct for storytelling and place that's defined his work across the country. And helping embed Indi Footscray within the cultural fabric of the neighbourhood.

Episode 2:
As a resident and lover of Footscray, Lynn Bremner has drawn on her years living in the suburb to create a mural that celebrates the area's multiculturalism and diversity. Interwoven throughout the artwork are small details designed to bring a smile to the community. These include a famous bonded pair of macaws often seen flying around the neighbourhood, a dolphin as a nod to the dearly missed Olympic Doughnuts, and of course a Bulldog representing Footscray's pride in the Western Bulldogs.

Episode 3:
As a celebrated international mural artist, Seth explores imagination, identity and the power of creativity through vibrant, dreamlike artworks. For The Painting Game, he depicts a child painting on the ground, whose imagination transforms the world around him into an explosion of colour. The artwork celebrates the richness of Footscray's people, stories and community connections, highlighting the idea that our surroundings, encounters and shared experiences shape who we are.

Episode 4:
In Footscray, there’s a constant flow - people moving, interacting, gathering. It’s a place shaped by many cultures, buzzing with life and activity. This mural responds to that pulse. It’s about movement, connection, and the way people come together in public spaces - the beauty in the ordinary.
The four birds depicted are caught mid-dance, embodying exchange and interaction. Each carries its own personality, yet they move as part of something larger - within a shared sense of rhythm, joyful and fully alive.

Episode 5:
With this artwork Millo explores cohesion, inclusion, and connection in a
multicultural community.
The two children are lying across separate red brick structures that form a bridge.
They are reaching toward each other, physically and metaphorically, as human
connection can always overcome divisions.
Millo’s message connects strongly to Footscray and the City's multicultural history.
Through waves of migration, the area has become culturally diverse. His mural
aims to suggest that Communities are built through relationships.
